She Wanted

to record
only one small
portion, one bird,
one snake, one
unc fly’s view.

Nothing grand
one blade, one stem,
one pistil at a time

as if creation
commenced
in a haze
of exasperated
jerks.

She arrived
three days early
to scope out
the spot

deciding
where to plant
herself, where

to start

the slow erasure

the wearing in.
